Method for assessing the value of an environmental good (or more often one of its functions) by using the costs that would be incurred if it were to disappear or its functioning impaired. There are several methods: the cost-replacement method, substitute-cost method, avoided-cost method, productivity-change method and cost-of-illness method.Source
