Intrinsic value

Updated on 19/06/2018
Définition
Sens technique
A non-instrumental value which reflects the inherent value of an entity and which can be anthropocentric. The intrinsic value may also reflect the value that an entity has in itself and for its own sake, regardless of its usefulness to human beings. It then reflects a conception of biodiversity as an "end in itself", and gives man a moral responsibility to protect nature.
