Group of more than 100 different organic compounds consisting of several benzene rings. Some of them are persistent and carcinogenic. The polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, better known by the acronym PAH, are generally formed during the incomplete combustion of coal, oil, gas, waste or other organic substances.
