Drinking water and sanitation

All facilities, services and activities which allow, by using untreated water, producing water which meets the drinking water standards in force, then distributed to consumers. We consider five distinct steps in this supply, abstraction, intakes, drinking water treatment, conveyance (transport and storage), and distribution to the consumer.

Relative significance of the cost of public water supply and sanitation services (production, conveyance and distribution of drinking water; collection, conveyance and treatment of wastewater) in the available income of consumers. This criterion is to be taken into account, e.g. when defining an overall price policy for public water supply and sanitation services.
