The biomimetic approach is conceptualized in three main steps at the international normative level (ISO 18458 - Biomimetics: terminology, concepts, and methodology):
- Analysis of biological systems.
- Abstraction of these systems into a model.
- Application of the model to a technical or organizational development (product, service) meeting a defined need.
