According to the decree of 27 February 1987, this mission is entrusted to the Minister for the Environment and is composed of representatives of ministries responsible for water issues. The Inter-ministerial Mission for Water (MIE) reviews equipment programmes, the allocation of resources and means and especially the appropriations allotted to the budget of the various ministries involved. It also reviews all draft laws, decrees, regulations, directives and circulars relating to water issues developed by the ministries concerned. The Inter-ministerial Mission also reviews the drafted directives addressed by the Minister for the Environment to coordinating bodies and Water Agencies. The MIE for instance reviewed 6 continental river basin management plan (SDAGEs) on 9 May 1996.
